AJ’s Car of the Day 1967 Oldsmobile Delta Custom Hardtop

Car: Oldsmobile Delta Custom Hardtop Coupe

Year: 1967

What makes it special: Oldsmobile’s 88 was offered in some form or another during it’s run from the 1949 through 1999 model years. During that 50-year run, 88 had a library of interesting names, but in the end, it was still an 88.

What made it famous: For 1967, 88 was bigger and received a facelift to keep up with the competition. The straight lines of the mid-60’s were instead replaced by the famed “Coke-Bottle” styling. Trim levels were changed, but the Delta 88 remained the top trim level, and was divided into the Standard 88 and upscale Delta Custom. Custom was available in two or four-door hardtop models only. They also carried designations  of 330 to 425 to coincide with the cubic inch size of the car. The 330 was of 250hp, while the 425 produced 300hp.

Why I would want one: It’s just such a cool, fastback style hardtop. Just a great design.

Fun fact: During the 50’s and 60’s, it was Oldsmobile’s top selling model.
