Dog Days Adoption Events has held 10 pop-up adoption events so far- and we have re-homed over 900 dogs that would have been euthanized. These are dogs from Connecticut municipal pounds and rescue groups as well as poor, rural southeastern communities. Our adoption events are run by an amazing army of well-trained volunteers from all walks of life who come together to create a magnificent environment for adopters to find a dog matched to their lifestyle. We work hard to screen, interview, and follow-up on adopters to ensure a successful transition for all. All adoption fees go to the rescue group that has brought the dog to our event, which means they can keep up the hard work of saving more dogs. Our funding is through donations and fund raisers. The Salem event is sponsored by both the Petco Foundation and the Fabian family, in honor of Buzz Fabian, who passed away in July. In addition, our youngest volunteers, the 8 to 12 year old "Stars," are hosting a fundraiser to help out our rescue partners.
If you'd like more information, please contact Lorin Liesenfelt, the CEO and founder. She had the notion a few years ago that a community could come together with nothing but spirit- and make a difference in the lives of shelter dogs.
Thank you for all you do for the dogs (and the community)
