AJ's Car of the Day: 1970 Dodge Charger R/T
Car: Dodge Charger R/T
What makes it special: It was the last year of production for the second generation Dodge Charger. It received a front end restyle of a wraparound chrome front bumper encasing the hideaway headlights. The R/T also received new front end facing air scoops.
What made it famous: It was the first year that the Charger received the famed 390 hp 440 six-pack V8, with a 3 2-barrel carburetor set-up, and a new 440 or Hemi hood cutout that was only available on the dealership's option list for that year.
Why I would want one: The second generation Dodge Charger will always remain an iconic muscle car, plus it's the only year with the 440 Six-Pack. Not to mention that it came in a host of "High-Impact colors", like "Top Banana", "Sublime", "Burnt Orange", "Go Mango", and the ever famous "Plum Crazy."
Fun fact: In the 1970 Nascar season, the 1970 Dodge Charger had more wins than any other car at 10 wins total for the year, more than the famed 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona's or Plymouth Superbirds.
