AJ's Car of the Day: 1975 Pontiac Trans-Am 455 H.O.
Car: Pontiac Trans-Am 455 H.O.
What makes it special: Introduced late in 1975, Pontiac's 455 H.O. package rekindled interest in the Trans-Am series, which had dwindled due to emissions and insurance regulations.
What made it famous: The optional 455 cu in V8, it's "Shaker Hood" scoop, and 4-speed manual transmission.
Why I would want one: It's low production numbers: only 875 were built in 1975.
Fun fact: The 1977 Trans-Am Special Edition became famous after being featured in "Smokey and the Bandit", while the 1980 Turbo model was used for "Smokey and the Bandit II". Singer Kesha has given the car a boost in popularity in recent years as well, using her own gold '78 Trans Am in the music video for her song "Tik Toc", and even had an entire song (entitled "Gold Trans Am") dedicated to it on her second album, "Warrior."
