Car: Ford Mustang R-Code 428 Cobra-Jet Fastback
What makes it special: It's a "one-off" Mustang. Not a Mach 1, GT or Shelby. Just a plain Mustang Fastback with one potent V8 residing within its engine bay.
What made it famous: This plain Mustang has a factory installed 428 Cobra-Jet V8 engine with Shaker Hood scoop and a C6 Automatic transmission. Other goodies on it's grocery list include a Traction-Lok rear, Power steering and power disc brakes, a factory Tachometer and competition suspension and factory Candy Apple Red paint.
Why I would want one: The fact that this is a "one-off" means that it's a rare oddity. Someone decided that they wanted to order a performance Mustang, but didn't want the flashy badging and stigma of the more known performance models offered for the Mustang by Ford. It's a "one-of-a-kind."
Fun fact: The Mustang premiered April 17th, 1964 at the N.Y World's Fair and 22,000 Mustangs sold the first day of its release...Within 2 years, over one million Mustangs were sold. The first Mustang off the assembly line was sold by mistake to an airplane pilot. ( Why it was a mistake, I couldn't tell ya... )
