Car: Dodge Challenger 426 Hemi R/T Convertible
What makes it special: During the height of the muscle car wars, the 426 Hemi Challenger R/T Convertible was available for only one year. Only 12 were ever built...and of those 12, only 9 of those were built for the U.S. market...and of those 9, only 5 of them had manual transmissions. ( Got it? )
What made it famous: It was amongst the most muscular drop tops ever to come from Detroit. Its E-Body platform looked great, but when coupled with the legendary Hemi under its hood, it delivered a one-two punch of style and power that has stood the test to time. Its legendary 426 Hemi V8 churned out 425 horsepower, and when mated to a Pistol-Grip shifted, 4-speed manual transmission...it was the one of the most ultimate rides ever to leave the assembly line.
Why I would want one: Its got a Hemi. It's a Convertible. It's rare. Why would I WANT one? Do the math.
Fun fact: The first generation Dodge Challenger was built using the Chrysler E platform. The current generation Dodge Challenger is built on the LX platform.
