Car: Ford Galaxie 406 V8 G-Code Club Sedan
What makes it special: This particular 1962 Ford Galaxie Club Sedan is the third earliest known built with the G-code 406/405 HP 3x2bbl engine and 4-speed manual transmission.
What made it famous: The low-priced Club Sedan was known for its bright metal body trim on the beltline, hood lip, body sides, lower c-pillars, etc. and the model name appeared in script on the front fenders and in block letters on the trunk. Additional horsepower became available in 1962 with the new Thunderbird Super-High Performance Code G 405 hp. 406 cu in V8, with a 3 2-barrel carburetor set-up.
Why I would want one: The early sixties Ford Galaxies are legendary. They were equipped with some of the most famous V8's Ford had to offer. The Super-High Performance G-Code 405 hp 406 V8 isn't as common, so it stands out just a little more than the others.
Fun fact: Some Galaxies were high-performance, racing specification machines, a larger forebear to the muscle car era.
