AJ's Car of the Day 1954 Ford F100 V8 Pickup

Car: Ford F-100 V8 Pickup

What makes it special: In 1953, the F-1 Pickup became the F-100. Few things changed for the 1954 F-100. It was redesigned with a more integrated look. Changes to the 1954 F-100 included a redesigned grille and other minor trim changes including a few new paint colors.

What made it famous:  1954 saw the introduction of the new 239 cu in overhead valve "Y-Block" V8, dubbed "Power King." It replaced the prior year's "Flathead" engine.

Why I would want one: It's the first year of the V8 engine in Ford's most iconic series pickup. Love the Spartan styled cab...it's a no-frills classic.

Fun fact: The F-Series of Ford full sized pickups has been sold continuously for over six decades. It has been the best selling vehicle in the U.S. for the past 32 years, and the best-selling pick-up for 43 years.
