AJ's Car of the Day '67 Chevrolet Impala Convertible

Car: Chevrolet Impala Convertible

Year: 1967

What makes it special: Chevrolet's Impala were built for model years 1958-85, 1994-96, and since 2000 onwards. Impala was Chevrolet's most expensive passenger model through 1965, and had become the best-selling automobile in the United States.

What made it famous: The fourth-generation 1967 model was redesigned with enhanced Coke bottle styling that featured Corvette-inspired front and rear fender bulges. The curves were the most pronounced with the 1967–1968 models. In keeping with federal regulations, safety features were built into Impalas during the 1967 and '68 model years, including a fully collapsible energy-absorbing steering column, side marker lights, and shoulder belts for closed models. The L72 engine was not available in 1967, but a L36 Turbo-Jet V8 was optional.

Why I would want one: I've always been a fan of the Impala line from the beginning to 1974.

Fun fact: A 1967 Chevrolet Impala 4-door hardtop is used on the "Supernatural" TV show.
