Environmental activist and attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will be the guest speaker at the Aquarium's annual "Waves of Gratitude" private donor-appreciation event on Thurs., Oct. 18 – fittingly, the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act.This resolute defender of the environment was named one of Time magazine's “Heroes for the Planet” for his success in helping the Hudson Riverkeeper lead the fight to restore the Hudson River. The group's achievemenst helped to spawn more than 130 Waterkeeper organizations across the globe. Kennedy has worked on environmental issues across the Americas and has assisted several indigenous tribes in Latin America and Canada in successfully negotiating treaties protecting traditional homelands. He is also credited with leading the fight to protect New York City's water supply.This invitation-only event is to thank those donors who have made a financial commitment of $1,000 or more in the past year to support the Aquarium's mission.
