Fumbling Toward Enlightenment Dr. Brian Luke Seaward      Please join us for "Fumbling Toward Enlightement," an exciting  workshop by Dr. Brian Luke Seaward hosted by The Graduate Institute.       Somwhere between Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey, we navigate our lives between a motivation of fear and love, more often than, not fear. Despite our best efforts to sail gracefully in the direction of divine luminosity, our attempts can be described as “fumbling toward enlightenment.” There are untold potholes on the road marked compassion in action.     Two of the most profound questions you can ever ask yourself are these; “Who am I?” and “Why am I here?” If you are like most people, you may find yourself asking these questions several times in the course of your life. Ironically, even when you think you have the answers, occasionally the winds of change blow strong enough to make you re-evaluate your assumptions. This second, third or fourth look; a calibration of your human journey, is not only a good idea, it’s quite necessary. Simply stated, the path of enlightenment, whatever tributary you take, is not without it’s challenges. Those who make it look easy have mastered Hemmingway’s expression, “Grace under pressure.”     Moments of stress and personal crises prove to be opportune times to ask these two profound questions, yet for many, stress provides an excuse to avoid this topic altogether. The term “spiritual constipation” comes to mind. Likewise, stress in the form of distractions (also known as addictions), can derail our best efforts on this path of enlightenment. We can stop to smell the roses, we just cannot park along the side of the road indefinitely. In nearly all cultures around the globe, the word spirit and breathe are synonymous; an exchange of energy. edges so that we emerge as a beautiful polished gem and reflect the light all around us.         Luke Seaward 25.00
