Like Violet is based around sisters Caitlin and Carly Kalafus formerly of the teen pop band Kicking Daisies. In KD the girls toured the country playing Bamboozle, Warped, Six Flags, HardRock Café, The Troubadour in Hollywood and more.  They also appeared on National TV shows and in nationally aired TV commercials. The song “Breathing”(written by Caitlin) made it to #34 on the Billboard charts and their CD “Kicking Daisies”, which featured songs composed mainly by Caitlin and Carly sold at Walmart stores across the country.  Now with Like Violet, the girls are ready to break out in a new and much more mature way.  “Touring with bands like The Ready Set, The Downtown Fiction and The Summer Set made Carly and I realize that it was time to grow up and play the music in our hearts”, says Caitlin.  Carly adds, “It’s not that we didn’t love being in KD but there comes a time when the music changes.” So with that, Caitlin and Carly decided to pursue a new sound and image.  Some have called it “Fire and Ice” comparing Carly’s fiery red hair and captivating stage presence to Caitlin’s cool demeanor and impressive musicianship.  Add in the new addition of bassist James Thompson and guitarist Shaepes (pronounced “Shapes”) and you have something new and exciting in Like Violet. LISTENStephen Gonza is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Milford, CT who is best known for being the Lead vocalist/frontman of Fighting Confession. During a hiatus from FC, Stephen decided to focus on his solo career and has written several tunes which includes his Award winning hit single “Eyes Begin To Close.” LISTENMoving Brooklyn: In 2011, Kilgore, LaBosky, and Tiernan reunited to play music together again, joined by Laudenslager and Mastroianni in the rhythm section. After playing a string of shows, the group evolved into something entirely different from its previous incarnation. The five young men then started writing collaboratively, a new concept for many of them. With newfound inspiration, a fresh stylistic direction, and no short supply of patience, they created a new identity for their band, and crafted an arsenal of songs. While Tiernan’s words reflect change, love and personal growth, Kilgore, LaBosky, Laudenslager, and Mastroianni thunder on with solid-rock inspired instrumentals. The band played their first show in as Moving Brooklyn in 2012, winning a battle of the bands and earning a spot at the Hartford, CT date of the Vans Warped Tour.Moving Brooklyn can best be defined as a fun, energetic live act that you won’t want to miss. As these five musicians can tell you, making music in good company is just as much an important component to success as any. LISTEN
