Supporting Acts: Paper Hill Casket Company Adam McBride-Smith and The War Eagles (mems of The Avett Brothers/Langhorne Slim)
Adam McBride-Smith grew up in Oklahoma, but has called many places home since then. His self-penned ballads and breakdowns, with their stories of wanderers, gamblers, road-builders and home wreckers, have taken him to stages across the U.S., to Europe and back again. Adam’s sophomore effort, “Traveller’s Moon,” was released on Wild Honey Records in May. The album’s 14 tunes offer a darkly lyrical take on classic country/folk, and feature a roster of seasoned musicians including bassist Paul Difiglia and drummer Malachi DeLorenzo, otherwise known as the War Eagles. Difiglia and DeLorenzo are currently members of the Avett Brothers and Langhorne Slim, respectively, but they have played and toured together off and on for much of the past decade. Their shifting arrangements on “Traveller’s Moon” navigate a shadowy landscape like the drifters at the heart of these songs, while moments of harmony and unexpected humor light up the darkness. Adam McBride-Smith and the War Eagles hit the road in November to promote their new record, and their dynamic live shows just might be the perfect antidote to the hard times and they sing about.
