Congregation Kol Haverim of Glastonbury, Conn., is proud and pleased to partner with the 92 St Y and the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) to bring a series of live interactive broadcasts to the Greater Hartford community. Live from NY's 92nd Street Y™, now in its ninth year, is a series of lectures, interviews, panels, and readings featuring newsmakers, political figures, opinion-shapers and authors who discuss the issues and events that affect our lives. Using satellite technology, the 92Y simultaneously broadcasts their renowned educational and cultural programming to community organizations across America. Our second program is titled "God is One: Moses, Jesus, Muhammad." For this event the 92Y welcomes Bruce Feiler and Karen King, with moderator Reza Aslan. Monotheism is a very new idea in the history of religions, yet it has become the foundation of the three great western religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Are prophets inventors of religion, or are they social reformers who, as mouthpieces of the gods, strive to amend and reinterpret the existing beliefs and practices of their communities? Experience this live, interactive discussion via satellite with some of the most dynamic thinkers and writers on religion today. Our evening at Congregation Kol Haverim will begin with refreshments at 7:30pm, with the broadcast starting at 8:15pm. Most 92Y Live programs run about 75 to 90 minutes. We also invite you stay after for dessert and discussion. This event is open to all. We are excited to share this fascinating discussion with the Greater Hartford community, and beyond!Tickets are required for this event. Advance tickets are $10 (donation); students free. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $15. You can also send a check directly to Congregation Kol Haverim, 1079 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT 06033. Any questions, contact office@kolhaverim.org or call 860-633-3966.This program is made possible in part by support from the Greater Hartford Jewish Federation. Adult - Advance 11.24 Student 0.00
