Children with learning disabilities often struggle to make and keep friends.  The ability to communicate effectively is critical to a child’s social and emotional life, as well as to academic achievement. Dr. Lydia Soifer,  a nationally acclaimed language pathologist, as well as an expert on child development and learning disabilities, will identify the skills and abilities that underlie the “gift of gab,” and will help parents be alert to how they function in real time. She will  provide some pointers on building a youngster’s social communication skill set, enabling parents to become more effective teachers of these important life skills. This free program, co-sponsored with YWCA Parent Awareness, will help you help your child improve his or her social and emotional skills.
