2006: The Rolling Stones announced that Ron Wood entered rehab for alcohol dependency. He did rejoin their A Bigger Bang tour when it resumed in July.


1997: Fans rioted during an Ozzfest concert at the Polaris Amphitheatre in Columbus, OH after Pantera singer Phil Anselmo announced that Ozzy Osbourne would not be performing due to a sore throat. Members of the other bands on the bill had performed thirty-five minutes of Ozzy Osbourne & Black Sabbath songs before Anselmo broke the news that Osbourne would not be performing.


1991: Van Halen released their ninth album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge which went on to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart & went on to sell three million copies in the U.S.


1989: Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with their duet “Close My Eyes Forever”. This would be both Ford & Osbourne’s only top ten single in the U.S.


1987: Real estate agent Vittoria Hohman filed a lawsuit against Motley Crue & promoters Beach Club Promotions for allegedly suffering hearing loss after attending a concert in December 1985 at St. Petersburg, FL’s Bayfront Center which Hohman attended with her daughter. The case would later be settled out of court.


1980: Led Zeppelin kicked off their Tour Over Europe at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund, Germany. This would be their final tour.


1978: Jefferson Starship cancelled their appearance at Germany’s Lorelei Festival due to Grace Slick being too inebriated to perform.


1972: The Grateful Dead played for the last time with founding member, organist Ron “Pigpen” McKernan at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.


1967: Jefferson Airplane peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Somebody to Love” which was their first top ten single in the U.S.
