2003: New York Mets catcher Mike Piazza was a guest on Eddie Trunk’s radio show in New York & persuaded Trunk to play a CD he received containing songs from Guns N’ Roses’ then-unreleased Chinese Democracy. Trunk played the song “I.R.S.” Guns N’ Roses’ management issued a verbal cease-and-desist order immediately.
1992: Guns N’ Roses peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “November Rain” which was their sixth and final top ten single in the U.S.
1992: U2 brought its Zoo TV Tour to Yankee Stadium, in the process becoming the second rock act to perform there.
1991: Boston DJ Kurt St. Thomas gave Nirvana’s album Nevermind its world premiere & played the entire album from start to finish.
1991: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers kicked off their world tour in support of Into the Great Wide Open at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver.

1980: Eddie Van Halen met future wife Valerie Bertinelli for the first time at a Van Halen concert in Shreveport, LA. They would get married eight months later.
1976: Spirit reformed with its original lineup for the first time in five years to perform a concert in Santa Monica, CA. Neil Young joined them onstage during the encore for a rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Like a Rolling Stone”.
1970: The Man-Pop Festival was held in Winnipeg at Winnipeg Stadium which was headlined by Led Zeppelin and also featured Iron Butterfly, The Youngbloods, The Ides of March and Chilliwack.
