2005: Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille was sentenced to 80 days in jail after pleading no contest to DUI charges after being arrested for running into a parked car in August.

2005: Cream kicked off a sold out three night stand at Madison Square Garden, marking their first concerts in the U.S. in thirty-seven years.

1988: Former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty was sued by his former boss, Fantasy Records head Saul Zanetz for allegedly plagiarizing himself. Zanetz claimed Fogerty re-wrote Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Run Through the Jungle” for his 1985 hit “The Old Man Down the Road”. 

1987: Pink Floyd peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 Album Chart with A Momentary Lapse of Reason which was their first album without founding member Roger Waters.

1979: Paul McCartney received a rhodium medallion from the British government after being declared the most successful composer of all time.

1978: Keith Richards was found guilty of heroin possession in Toronto and received a one year suspended sentence and was ordered to perform a benefit concert for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

1970: The Kinks peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Lola” which was their fourth top ten single in the U.S.

1970: Santana reached number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart for the first time with Abraxas which spent six non-consecutive weeks on top of the chart.

1967: Pink Floyd cancelled their first U.S. tour after Syd Barrett refused to lip-synch “Arnold Layne” when they appeared on American Bandstand.
