Greenwich Principal Returns

Greenwich officials have reinstated a school principal after reviewing allegations she faced 15 years ago as a daycare provider in Granby.
Shelley Somers returned on Thursday to Central Middle School after two weeks on paid leave.
Greenwich officials reinstated her after their findings matched Somers' description of the 1995 incident, in which she was accused of leaving a sleeping toddler alone in a van for 45 minutes.
She gave up her daycare license after the incident.
The Greenwich Time reports  the district's interim superintendent says Somers acknowledged the mistake, has already paid a high price and has had an ``exemplary career'' in Greenwich.
Students and parents gathered hundreds of petition signatures supporting Somers, who was a teacher and administrator in Beaufort, S.C., before becoming Central Middle School's principal in 2009.
