2008: Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was honored with an honorary doctorate in music at the University of Surrey in the U.K.

2004: Paul McCartney performed his 3,000th concert since first performing with the Quarrymen at the Palace Square in St. Petersburg, Russia.

1998: Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters and Pantera headlined the first Ozzfest held in the U.K. at the Milton Keynes Bowl in Milton Keynes.

1987: Boston made their first live appearance in eight years, headlining the Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on a bill that also included Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Poison & Tesla.

1986: The Prince’s Trust Concert was held at Wembley Stadium in London featuring Paul McCartney, Elton John, Tina Turner, Dire Straits, Bryan Adams & Phil Collins.

1980: The Eagles headlined the Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Other acts on the bill included Foreigner, Cheap Trick, Sammy Hagar & April Wine.

1974: Bob Dylan and The Band released their live album Before the Flood which went on to be certified Platinum & peak at number eight on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

1969: The Jimi Hendrix Experience received $125,000, the largest fee ever at the time for their headlining appearance at the Newport Pop Festival held outside of Los Angeles.

1969: David Bowie recorded “Space Oddity” at London’s Trident Studios.
