2004: During an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Courtney Love exposed her breasts to Letterman. After her appearance she was arrested after a concert for allegedly throwing a microphone stand into the crowd & striking a man in attendance.
2003: Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted became Ozzy Osbourne’s bassist. Newsted would leave before the end of 2003 after fulfilling touring duties.
2002: The Ramones, Talking Heads & Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were some of the acts inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam inducted the Ramones, Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers inducted the Talking Heads & Jakob Dylan inducted Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
2000: AC/DC made their first appearance on North American television since 1978 when they were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live where they performed “Stiff Upper Lip” and “You Shook Me All Night Long”.
1996: The Sex Pistols announced a reunion tour at the 100 Club in London. Johnny Rotten was quoted as saying “We have found a common cause, and it’s your money” when asked about the reunion.
1983: Billy Squier kicked off his first arena headlining tour in support of Emotions in Motion at the Omni Arena in Atlanta. Def Leppard was the opening act & by the end of the tour, their merchandise was outselling Squier’s nightly.
1978: Over 350,000 people attended California Jam II in Ontario, CA. The acts on the bill included Aerosmith, Ted Nugent, Santana, Heart, Foreigner & Dave Mason.
1976: The Man Who Fell to Earth starring David Bowie in his first starring role premiered in London.
1972: Neil Young reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the first and only time with “Heart of Gold”, where it spent one week on top of the chart.
