2005: U2, The Pretenders, Buddy Guy, & Percy Sledge were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. U2 were inducted by Bruce Springsteen, The Pretenders were inducted by Neil Young, Eric Clapton inducted Buddy Guy & Rod Stewart inducted Percy Sledge.

2003: Robert Trujillo performed his last concert as Ozzy Osbourne’s bassist in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel, as Trujillo had accepted the bassist vacancy in Metallica. Sharon Osbourne was rushed to a hospital during the concert due to heat exhaustion.

1992: Farm Aid V took place at Texas Stadium in Irving outside of Dallas. Some of the performers included Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul Simon & Bonnie Raitt.

1986: Frank Zappa made a guest appearance on Miami Vice as drug dealer Mario Fuente.

1985: Iron Maiden began a four night sellout stand at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, CA. The concerts were recorded for the live album and video Live After Death which were released the following October.

1984: Rainbow performed their last concert for 11 years at Tokyo’s Budokan where they were accompanied by a Japanese symphony orchestra which included guitarist Ritchie Blackmore’s adaptation of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Blackmore & bassist Roger Glover shortly re-joined Deep Purple for a reunion tour.

1982: Metallica performed their first concert at Radio City in Anaheim, CA. There were approximately 200 people in attendance & their nine song set only had two original songs.

1981: Eric Clapton was admitted to United Hospital in St. Paul, MN after an attack of bleeding ulcers which caused Clapton to cancel a 60 city tour of the U.S.

1964: The Beatles peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Please Please Me”. They were still at number one with “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and at number two with “She Loves You”.
