This Day in Music History...

1966: Paul McCartney death rumors point to this date. According to the lore, Paul was killed in a car wreck and replaced in The Beatles by a lookalike.

1966: John Lennon meets Yoko Ono at an exhibit of her artwork at the Indica Gallery in London, an event which some believe was the beginning of the end for The Beatles.

1968: Having been billed as The New Yardbirds from September through mid-October of 1968, Led Zeppelin play their first London show, and second show overall, under their new name. The band headlines a show at The Roundhouse over John Lee Hooker and four other bands.

1969: At Campus Stadium in Santa Barbara, California, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young kik off a fall tour that includes a fateful date at Altamont Speedway with The Rolling Stones.

2004: Eric Clapton announces that Cream will reunite for a week of shows at London's Royal Albert HAll in 2005.
