This Day in Music History...

1967: Paul McCartney supervises the editing of the promotional film for The Beatles' "Hello Goodbye." It will debut two weeks later on The Ed Sullivan Show.

1975: Rod Stewart and The Faces play their final show together at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York.

1980: Bruce Springsteen has his first chart-topping album, The River.

1991: Lynyrd Skynyrd releases a self-titled box set. 

2002: Pearl Jam release their seventh studio album, Riot Act. The day's other releases include 3 Doors Down's Away From the Sun and Saliva's Back Into Your System.

2008: Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis announces he's working with HBO to create a new show inspired by his 2004 autobiography Scar Tissue.

2008: Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, is found dead of natural causes at his hotel room in Portland, Oregon.
