This Day in Music History...

1973: Drummer Keith Moon collapses during a Who concert at The Cow Palace in San Francisco. Scott Halpin, a 19-year-old fan from Iowa, finishes the show for him.

1976: George Harrison guests on Saturday Night Live and performs "Here Comes the Sun" with Paul Simon. But he turns down an offer of union scale wages to reform The Beatles for the show.

1991: The Rolling Stones sign a 45-million-dollar deal with Virgin Records, making them (at the time) rock's highest paid group.

2003: Boston's self-titled debut album is certified 17-times platinum.

2004: U2 make up their own rules at Saturday Night Live by playing three songs to close the show. The band starts a final song as the credits roll.

2007: It's announced that Gene Simmons of KISS will be among the cast of this year's celebrity version of NBC's The Apprentice.
