This Day in Music History: Wednesday, November 21st

By Mike Lapitino

This Day in Music History...

1960: George Harrison, 17 years old, is deported home to England from Germany. Hamburg law prohibits those under 18 from working in a nightclub, which is where The Beatles are performing. John, Paul, Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe continue on as a foursome at the Kaiserkeller.

1965: The Rolling Stones, whose current hit is "Get Off of My Cloud," perform a Dallas-Fort Worth doubleheader. They give an afternoon concert at Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth and an evening show at Dallas Memorial Auditorium.

1980: John Lennon and Yoko Ono pose nude for New York photographer Allan Tannenbaum. The pictures will later be used on a memorable cover of Rolling Stone.

1988: The Delicate Sound of Thunder, Pink Floyd's live album, is released.

1991: Aerosmith appear as cartoon characters on The Simpsons. They play "Walk This Way" at Moe's Tavern.

1995: Green Day signer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong is arrested for dropping his pants onstage during a concert appearance in Milwaukee.

2000: A Stevie Ray Vaughan box set, SRV, is released.

2002: System of a Down, Eminem, The Hives, The White Stripes and The Vines are among Rolling Stone magazine's "People of the Year."

2006: Red Hot Chili Peppers win Favorite Pop/Rock Band, Duo or Group and Favorite Alternative Music Artist at the American Music Awards.
