This Day in Music History...

1976:  Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers begin a national tour- opening for KISS- in support of their first album.

1976:  The Who and The Grateful Dead play the second of two shows together at Oakland Stadium for Bill Graham's Days on the Green series.  Neither is a sell-out. 

1977:  The Rolling Stones start recording the Some Girls album in Paris.  The sessions produce the hits "Miss You" and "Shattered."

1978:  Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are injured when a tossed cherry bomb explodes onstage during a show in Philadelphia.

1989:  The Rolling Stones' Steel Wheels tour hits Shea Stadium in New York.
