This Day in Music History...

1969:  Grand Funk Railroad's first album, On Time, enters the chart at #65.  Within the year, Grand Funk is among the best selling acts in rock history.

1975:  NBC unveils Saturday Night Live with George Carlin as guest host.  The show really takes off the following week when host Paul Simon reunites with his former partner, Art Garfunkel.

1977:  The Cure record their first demos.

1989:  The Rolling Stones perform at Shea Stadium in New York.  "Jumpin' Jack Flash" is the encore.

2004:  The Vote for Change tour hits Washington DC for a big finale featuring Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Pearl Jam, REM and Dave Matthews Band.
