This Day in Music History...

1968: Eric Clapton records his solo for The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."

1969: Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" peaks at #7 on the pop singles chart.

1972: John Lennon and Yoko Ono appear on The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon.

1994: English keyboard great Nicky Hopkins, who recorded and toured with The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service and The Jeff Beck Group and play on records by The Who, The Kinks and many more, dies at age 50.

2005: Velvet Revolver play a show in Orlando, Florida and donate 100% of the proceeds to the American Red Cross.

2005: The Rolling Stones release A Bigger Bang.

2006: Bob Dylan's Modern Times debuts at #1 in Billboard.  It's Dylan's first chart-topping album in 30 years.

Today: Roger Waters turns 69 years old.  The former singer, songwriter and bassist in Pink Floyd, whose Dark Side of the Moon spent a record 741 weeks on the Billboard album chart, now works under his own name. Despite continuing animosity between Waters and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, the two wer able to set aside their differences long enough to reunite the band for a one-off appearance at 2005's Live 8 concert in London.
