This Day in Music History...

1969: The Beatles renegogiate their contract with Capitol Records.  New manager Allan Klein gets their royalty rate raised from 17.5 to 25% of the wholesale price.

1969: Blind Faith's self-titled album hits #1 on both U.S. and U.K. charts.

1971: Guitarist/singer Peter Frampton leaves Humble Pie to go solo.

1975: Bruce Springsteen releases "Born to Run" as a single.

1984: Marvin Gay Senior pleads no contest to voluntary manslaughter charges in the shooting death of his son, singer Marvin Gaye Junior, nearly six months earlier.

1985: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' Southern Accents album is certified platnum.

1996: Pearl Jam performs "Hail Hail" on a commercial-free episode of The Late Show with David Letterman.
