This Day in Music History...

1970: On Friday the 13th, Black Sabbath release their self-titled debut album in the UK.

1981: At 402 weeks, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of Moon becomes the longest-running rock album in the history of Billboard's Top 200 album chart. It still lags behind Johnny Mathis' Greatest Hits (490 weeks) and the original cast recording of My Fair Lady (480).

1982: Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Ronnie Van Zant's gravestone is stolen from an Orange Park, Florida cemetery. The 300-pound stone is found two weeks later in a dry river bed.

1993: Paul McCartney is the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

1999: Eric Clapton performs with BB King at the NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles.

2005: U2 wins big at the 47th annual Grammy Awards. "Vertigo" is named Best Rock Song as well as Best Rock Performance. The video for "Vertigo" wins Best Short-Form Video. Green Day gets Rock Album of the Year for American Idiot, and Velvet Revolver nabs the Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy for "Slither." Jack White of The White Stripes helps country legend Loretta Lynn win a pair of awards, including Best Country Album for Van Lear Rose, which he produce. They also win Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for their duet on "Portland, Oregon."

2007: Bassist Tom Hamilton reveals he will be back with Aerosmith when they tour South America and Europe in the spring and summer. Hamilton sat out the band's 2006 tour with Motley Crue while being treated for throat cancer.

2011: The Black Keys, Jeff Beck and Arcade Fire are the big rock winners at the 53rd Grammy Awards. Jeff Beck win three Grammys at the 53rd annual awards show in Los Angeles.
