This Day in Music History...

1970: The Who tape themselves playing England's Leeds University. Six songs are culled and released as the Live at Leeds album, which will later be expanded on a 1995 CD reissue with more material from the show.

1977: The B-52's make their live debut at a party in Athens, Georgia.

1981: Generation X announce their breakup. Singer Billy Idol will pursue a solo career, while his bandmates go on to other musical ventures, including the infamous Sigue Sigue Sputnik.

1992: Weezer is formed in Los Angeles by Rivers Cuomo, Jason Cropper, Matt Sharp and Pat Wilson.

2000: KISS announce that their upcoming US tour, starting March 11th in Phoenix, will be their farewell, with the final show planned for "somehwere in the US in 2001," according to bassist Gene Simmons. They're still on the road.

2008: Ringo Starr announces a 10th All Starr Band tour with guest stars Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart, Edgar Winter, first-timer Gary Wright and drummer Gregg Bissonette. It will begin June 19th in Niagara Falls, Canada.
