This Day in Music History...

1970: Max Yasgur is sued for $35,000 in property damages by neighboring farmers. The August 1969 Woodstock Festival was held on Yasgur's farm.

1975: Led Zeppelin fans riot while waiting for tickets to go on sale at the Boston Gardens. The show is cancelled after $30,000 worth of damage is done.

1980: Led Zeppelin gets gold and platinum certifications for In Through the Out Door. 

1997: Nominations for the 39th Grammy Awards are announced in New York. The Smashing Pumpkins lead rock nominees with seven.

1999: Rod Stewart announces his separation from his wife of eight years, model Rachel Hunter.
