This Day in Music History...

1965: Bob Dylan begins recording Bringing It All Back Home, the album that contains "Mr. Tambourine Man," in New York. He completes it the next day.

1970: The first Human Be-in, a pow wow intended for hippies and mainstream activists to unite, takes place in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

1971: Guitarist Steve Hackett plays his first show with Genesis at University College in London. 

1978: Winding up their calamitous first US tour at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, The Sex Pistols play their last show together until a 1996 reunion tour. Right after the show, Johnny Rotten quits the band.

1984: ZZ Top receives 131,384 votes in a Saturday Night Live phone-in Democratic candidate poll.
