Throwback Concert: Van Halen at New Haven Coliseum 1981

Throwback Concert: Van Halen at New Haven Coliseum 1981

99.1 PLR celebrates 50 years! This week we are celebrating another great year in our history: 1981!

That year PLR welcomed Van Halen to New Haven Coliseum. Eddie and the boys hit the road in 1981 to support their fourth studio album, “Fair Warning,” which featured such hits as So This Is Love?, Mean Street and Unchained.

Van Halen was no stranger to New Haven. Between the years 1978 and 1986, VH played the Coliseum 8 times. That’s perhaps the reason why many people called them “Van Haven” when they came to New Haven!
