Throwback Concert: Chickenfoot at Mohegan Sun Arena 2012

Throwback Concert: Chickenfoot at Mohegan Sun Arena 2012

By Drew Carrano

Chickenfoot is a supergroup comprised of guitar wiz Joe Satriani, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith, and former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar. Formed in 2008, Chickenfoot would go on to release two studio albums, a live album and a box set.

Though their albums are great, its their live show that makes them special. You look at Chickenfoot perform live and its like watching four best friends rockin’ out on stage together. That’s exactly what we saw in 2012 when they came to Mohegan Sun Arena.

Today’s Throwback Concert:

Chickenfoot

Different Devil Tour

Special Guest: Black Stone Cherry

Saturday May 19, 2012

Mohegan Sun Arena – Uncasville

About The Tour: In early 2012 Chickenfoot announced a 20-date North American tour to promote their second studio album Chickenfoot III. The Different Devil Tour, which was named after the band’s current single, kicked off in Lake Tahoe in May. While Chad Smith was on tour with Red Hot Chili Peppers, filling in on drums was former John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff.

Chickenfoot made a return to Mohegan Sun after playing the Arena in 2009. Much like that show in 2009, the 2012 show featured a heavy dose of Chickenfoot songs. You weren’t going to hear a Van Halen song at this show. No way. This was a show for fans of Chickenfoot, and rightly so. The only non-Chickenfoot song performed was ‘Rock Candy’ at the end, in tribute to the Sammy Hagar’s former bandmate and friend Ronnie Montrose, who sadly passed away two months earlier.

Throwback Concert: Aerosmith at MassMutual Center 2019

Throwback Concert: Aerosmith at MassMutual Center 2019

By Drew Carrano

2020 is supposed to be a big year for Aerosmith. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the band, but unfortunately, things haven’t started off well for them. Just a couple weeks ago Aerosmith announced that their spring residency in Las Vegas has been postponed due to the Coronavirus. Let’s hope by September they’ll be able to celebrate their 50th anniversary with their fans as they play Boston’s Fenway Park on September 18th.

Today we look back at the last time they came through New England, which was last August on their Deuces Are Wild residency in Springfield.

Today’s Throwback Concert:

Aerosmith

Deuces Are Wild Residency

Monday August 26, 2019

The MassMutual Center – Springfield, MA

About The Tour: Aerosmith launched its Deuces Are Wild residency in April 2019 and played 18 consecutive shows at the Park Theater in Las Vegas. The residency in Las Vegas lasted until July before shifting over to three other MGM Resorts on the East Coast. One of them was MGM Springfield, who at the time was celebrating its one-year anniversary. For four nights in late August, Aerosmith performed at The MassMutual Center and fans got to welcome the band back to its home state of Massachusetts.

Each of those four nights, a sold out crowd rocked out to an Aerosmith show full of nothing but hits and classics. There was no opening act, however, for those that came early there was a 30 minute pre-show movie about the history of the band.

Below is the setlist from the August 26th show in Springfield. This was the third show on the residency.
