If there’s one artist that’s constantly on the road, it’s Alice Cooper. In fact, if it wasn’t for COVID-19, he’d be on tour right now as we speak. Today we look back at one of Alice’s memorable shows in Connecticut.
Today’s Throwback Concert:
Alice Cooper
No More Mr. Nice Guy Tour
Saturday December 3, 2011
The Klein Auditorium – Bridgeport
About The Tour: Alice Cooper began rehearsals for his upcoming No More Mr. Nice Guy Tour the first week in May in Nashville. The tour officially kicked off in Indiana on May 12, 2011 and featured a new, revamped band lineup. The 2011 lineup included guitarists Steve Hunter, Tommy Henriksen and Damon Johnson, drummer Glen Sobel and bassist Chuck Garric.
The show at The Klein Auditorium in December 2011 was on the third leg of the North American tour. Prior to the start of the tour, Alice promised a lot of hits and he certainly delivered that in Bridgeport. From his classics like Billion Dollar Babies and Schools Out to his ’90s hits Hey Stoopid and Feed My Frankenstein plus all the theatrics, Alice gave his fans exactly what they wanted: a trademark Alice Cooper rock n’ roll show.

Chaz and AJ spoke with Governor Lamont this morning about COVID-19 in Connecticut. Where are we on the “curve?” When will some businesses like gyms and salon be allowed to start opening? What is he hoping to see before the May 20th deadline that could reopen schools? Plus, his answers on unemployment, rent protection, and the quick-testing site in New Haven.

We’re lucky to have some beautiful classic theaters here in Connecticut. The Shubert in New Haven, The Warner in Torrington, and The Kate in Old Saybrook are just a few of the great historic venues here in our state. But the theater that hosted perhaps the biggest names in rock is the classic Palace Theater in Waterbury. Bands like Pink Floyd, Queen, Grateful Dead, Santana, Genesis, Alice Cooper, and Frank Zappa all performed on The Palace stage.
Today we look back at a more recent show featuring one of the biggest names in alternative rock: Jane’s Addiction.
Today’s Throwback Concert:
Jane’s Addiction
Theatre Of The Escapists Tour
Opening Act: Black Box Revelation
Wednesday March 7, 2012
The Palace Theater – Waterbury
About The Tour: In 2012 Jane’s Addiction announced a series of intimate live shows in support of their new album, The Great Escape Artist, which was released in October 2011. The U.S. tour played mostly in classic theaters across the Northeast and Midwest and kicked off in St. Louis in February. The show at The Palace Theater in Waterbury in March was Jane’s Addiction first appearance in Connecticut since their memorable headlining performance at The Gathering of The Vibes the previous summer.
Jane’s Addiction 90-minute performance at The Palace opened with the new single, Underground, and then followed by hits Mountain Song, Just Because and Been Caught Stealing. The rest of the evening was filled with brand new songs from The Great Escape Artist, a mid-show acoustic set and fan favorites like Jane Says.

This year Judas Priest is celebrating 50 plus years of heavy metal with a big tour that’s scheduled to come to Connecticut this September. We don’t know quite yet if their show at Foxwoods will happen or not, but one thing is for sure: Judas Priest has history of great rock shows in Connecticut. Today we look back at their 2005 show in Bridgeport.
Today’s Throwback Concert:
Judas Priest
Retribution 2005 Tour
Opening Act: Anthrax and Hatebreed
Wednesday October 5, 2005
The Arena at Harbor Yard – Bridgeport (now Webster Bank Arena)
About The Tour:Judas Priest hit the road in 2005 in support of the album, Angel of Retribution, which was the first studio album to feature singer Rob Halford since 1990. The tour lasted almost the entire year, kicking of in February in Copenhagen and finishing off in early December in Lithuania. In that span they played a total of 111 shows across Europe, Japan, North America and Latin America.
The Arena at Harbor Yard was on the second leg of the North American tour. Anthrax accompanied Judas Priest on most of the dates on the second leg. The show in Bridgeport featured not only Anthrax, but for this show only, Connecticut’s own Hatebreed. Hatebreed was a late add-on to help boost ticket sales.
Much like the Reunited North American Tour of 2004 that opened in Hartford, this tour featured a lot of the classics and fan favorites. Sprinkled in were newer songs like Judas Rising, Revolution and Hellrider.
