Throwback Concert: Eddie Money at Milford Oyster Festival 2018

Last week the Milford Oyster Festival’s Board of Directors made the very difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Oyster Festival due to COVID-19. The festival was scheduled for Saturday, August 15th.
Jay Pinto, President of the Milford Oyster Festival, stated the following in a press release: “The safety of our dedicated festival goers, vendors, sponsors, volunteers and surrounding community always has been, and will remain our primary concern. Having closely monitored the progress of Federal, State and local guidelines and after much discussion and hope that the Festival could be possible, we know this is the right decision as we all do our part to stop this disruptive virus.”
Though we’re all sad this year’s festival isn’t happening, we can look forward to next year’s festival on Saturday August 21, 2021. We can also reflect on past Oyster Festivals, like the memorable time we had with Eddie Money in 2018.

About The Show:
On May 10, 2018 it was announced on 99.1 PLR’s Chaz and AJ In The Morning that Eddie Money will headline the 2018 Milford Oyster Festival with John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band. It marked first time in the 44 year history of the Milford Oyster Festival that there would be two headliners on the main stage.
Prior to the show, Eddie Money told Chaz and AJ in a radio interview, “I can’t wait to get to Connecticut and play all the hits!”
And that he did.
Over 50,000 people attended the 2018 Milford Oyster Festival on what was a beautiful day. But the weather wasn’t the only thing that helped attract such a huge crowd. Eddie Money was in town.
Sadly, Eddie would pass away a little over a year later on September 13, 2019 from esophageal cancer. But the memories of his performance and all the great songs in his legendary career will live on forever.

Vietnam Veteran Art Wiknik Remembers “Hamburger Hill” Mission
Chaz and AJ spoke with Art Wiknik last year on the 50th anniversary of the infamous “Hamburger Hill” battle during the Vietnam War. Art was shot, lit on fire, nearly abandoned, and yet made it to the top. He explained his journey to the top, the terrible cost of the repeated attempts to claim the hill, and the public backlash.

About The Tour:
Brothers Chris and Rich Robinson announced a string of acoustic shows ahead of their Black Crowes reunion tour, which was originally scheduled to happen in the summer 2020 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, “Shake Your Money Maker.”
Together the siblings went as “Brothers of a Feather” and played a brief one-month tour in small iconic clubs.
After a pair of performances in London and Amsterdam, respectively, Chris and Rich headed to the United States to kick off the North American portion of the tour. The first gig in the states was held at Brighton Music Hall, located just outside of Boston. The crowd of 500 or so, which included celebrities like Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band and invited guests, enjoyed a 13-song, 90-minute set that featured Black Crowes classics and a Little Feat cover to close the show.
