Car: Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible

Year: 1958

What makes it special: With only 813 ever produced, it was Cadillac'’s most luxurious and fashionable model yet to bear the iconic Eldorado name. 1958 is hallmarked as the last year for the rear wheel drive Eldorado to have totally distinctive styling all its own. It featured such incredible luxury for it's time including power windows, power locks, power top, auto dimming headlamps, original signal-seeking radio, and much more.

What made it famous: From the lavish interior appointments to the highly distinctive, softly rounded exclusive deck lid with dagger tipped fins, the appearance is unmistakable. The Eldorado Biarritz featured Cadillac's exclusive 365hp, 365 cu in Tri-Power (three 2-barrel carbs) V8, Hydramatic automatic transmission, power steering, and 4 wheel power brakes.

Why I would want one: It's the top of the mountain of luxury for its time. Not too mention it's low-production numbers makes it a highly sought after, very valuable collectible.

Fun fact: The nameplate "Eldorado" is a contraction of two Spanish words that translate as "the gilded (or golden) one," and also refers to El Dorado, the mythical South American "Lost City of Gold" that fascinated Spanish explorers.
