99.1 PLR Perfect Album: Alice in Chains ‘Dirt’

99.1 PLR Perfect Album: Alice in Chains ‘Dirt’

The fourth band on the Mount Rushmore of grunge was more of a metal band than the other groups from their hometown. Their breakthrough album covered dark topics ranging from heroin addiction to the death of their friend to the Vietnam war. This wasn’t your typical four million copy selling record. The album featured five hit songs from “Would” to “Rooster”, but with Layne Staley in the throes of a heroin addiction they would never quite match the success.

Fun Fact: Despite such a depressing album, the band did have some fun. For a “Headbangers Ball” episode they all went to the famed Action Park in New Jersey and went on the water slides, did some sumo wrestling and even tubed.

PODCAST – Monday, April 18: Red Sox Opening Day Audio; The Guy Who Found Millions Of Dollars Of Artwork In A Dumpster; We Talk To A Former White House Chef

Chaz and AJ had just played audio from Matt, and his People of Boston podcast, interviewing Red Sox fans on opening day. One fan admitted his best opening day memory was witnessing a fight. So, they asked the Tribe to call in the fights they witnessed, and both of these stories involved a stage. One for dancers, and one for graduates. (0:00)

Dumb Ass News – Matt called in with more audio from Red Sox fans, specifically Smitty and Burky who skipped out of work for the game. (5:36)

Jared Whipple’s story went viral recently, claiming he found art worth millions of dollars in a dumpster. The whole story is far more interesting, and Jared was on to explain why he decided to spent years of his time creating an art display for the artist, Francis Hines. (12:55)

Jimmy Rap was on with bus stop audio. As it turns out, Jimmy was out there yesterday, during Easter, and may have interrupted a somber gathering. Smokey, Streets and John all were very happy to chat with Jimmy, and attempt an Easter themed tongue-twister. (30:08)

Army veteran and former White House chef Andre Rush was on explaining how the President has to pay for the food that’s prepared by the White House chef. He’s learned quite a bit in his life, and recently wrote a book to capture his story from the rural south to the White House, “Call Me Chef, Dammit.” (44:54)

PODCAST – Friday, April 15: This Week’s Flubbles; No One RSVP’d to Phil’s Wedding; AJ Rants About Wooden Ships

In the Flubble Montage, there’s a lot of rage about movies this week, and Chaz misspoke while talking about pregnant women. (0:00)

Not one person on the show has sent in their RSVP to attend Phil’s wedding next month. The deadline is today, so Phil and his fiancée, Amanda roasted the whole show for dragging their feet. (5:19)

Somehow, a story about Elon Musk wanting to buy Twitter lead AJ to a bizarre and rambling rant about wooden ships. (18:51)

Comedian Dave Reilly shared a story about his home improvement project gone wrong. He nearly drowned while trying to dig a pond in his backyard. (27:29)

Boss Keith’s Top 5 list was an audience participation segment, and everyone but Ashley was on the same page. (35:51)

99.1 PLR Perfect Album: The Cars ‘The Cars’

99.1 PLR Perfect Album: The Cars ‘The Cars’

It is not often that your debut album also sounds like a greatest hits. The Cars are one of those bands thanks to the genius of Ric Ocasek and Benjamin Orr. These two Boston based musicians came up with a sound that would later would be called new wave. An album with six hits that eventually went 6x platinum and helped usher them into the ’80s where their sound would become one of the biggest.
