50 Years, 50 Albums 2006: Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Stadium Arcadium’

This will be the second time the Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) get inducted into the WPLR Hall of Fame. The first time with the album Californication, which represented the year 1999 in our 50th year anniversary and now with there ninth studio album Stadium Arcadium coming in with the most votes. The album released in 2006 and the last to feature guitarist John Frusciante (he left in 2009 but returned in 2019). The album won five out of its seven Grammy nominations in 2007. What was supposed to be a trilogy of albums released six months apart was condensed into a double album with very special packaging of which was one of the Grammys they won. The album released five singles and sold 442,000 copies in the United States in its first week and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making it the bands first number one in their career.

PODCAST – Monday, October 4: Anthony’s Make-A-Wish Story; Strange Morning Show Callers; Is Brian Laundrie On The Appalachian Trail?

A TikTok challenge is threatening the safety of teachers at schools, and some members of the Tribe are fed up with how little authority the teachers have today. (0:00)

Kim from Make-A-Wish was on the phone with Chaz and AJ to talk about the incredible story of Anthony, who survived a lengthy surgery to remove a tumor from his brain when he was just 5 months old. He’s now 7 years old, and has requested a camper with bunk beds to travel with his family. (14:43)

Dumb Ass News – A caller during the Top 10 list had such a strange interaction with Chaz at 5:45, that he decided to run the call again to try and pick up any details he missed the first time. (23:12)

There was a rumor that the fugitive suspected in the Gabby Petito case, her former boyfriend, may have been spotted on the Appalachian Trail. John from Wallingford has about 100 miles of trail left to hike, and called in this morning to share with Chaz and AJ what it’s like on the Appalachian Trail, and why he does not think the suspect is out there. Connoisseur Media CEO Jeff Warshaw and his college buddy Todd Simon from Omaha Steaks were both on the phone to share some grilling advice, or “steak tips,” as AJ says. (43:44)

You made Anthony’s Wish come true with Chaz & AJ and TrinityPoint Wealth

Thank you to everyone who donated to make Anthony’s Make-A-Wish Connecticut wish to come true with Chaz & AJ and TrinityPoint Wealth! Anthony is a seven-year-old from Milford who survived a brain tumor as an infant and still has some residual side effects today. His Wish is to have a camper so he and his family can all safely be together outside camping, creating new memories.

We raised over $14,500 to Make Anthony’s Wish Come True! Anthony is a huge Captain America fan.

Anthony’s Story:

Seven years ago, five-month-old baby Anthony began vomiting at his home in Milford. Alarmed and petrified, his parents made several trips to the pediatrician’s office and the pediatric ER over the course of five days, but Anthony’s condition continued to worsen.

Although doctors initially thought he had a virus, it was his family’s inability to make Anthony smile and a sudden crossing of his eyes that sent them to the ER again, where he was finally diagnosed with a brain tumor.

In pediatrics, brain tumors are difficult to diagnose because children are not usually walking or talking yet. Had Anthony not been brought back to the hospital, he would have died within hours. After a quick CAT scan, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors immediately placed a drain in his head to relieve the pressure and put him on life-saving machines to prepare for emergency surgery the next afternoon.

Anthony didn’t smile after the surgery, but about four or five days later, he finally smiled. Anthony’s mom shares that “Anthony’s signature in life is he is always smiling and happy.” And his dad proudly explains that “Anthony is the tank of the family; he can walk in a room and light it up.”

Anthony was told he might never walk or talk. And though he has residual side effects from the trauma he experienced, including epilepsy, his mantra is “never give up.” Today, Anthony is seven years old and started playing baseball for the first time in his life; he even joined the local little league team.

When considering a wish, Anthony chose one that would allow him to be around the people he loves the most – his family. He wished to have a camper so they can all safely be together outside camping and creating new memories.

Mighty John the Record Guy was on with Chaz and AJ to share the 10 most valuable Rolling Stones vinyl records, and the top spot is worth nearly $20,000. (22:10)

Employment attorney Bob Mitchell called in to talk to Chaz and AJ and the Tribe about Connecticut hospitals now demanding their employees get vaccinated, or risk being let go. (35:22)

Live Nation’s Jimmy Koplik was on to talk about his show to benefit the Waterbury Palace Theater on Oct. 14, and shared some stories as a preview, like the first time Bruce Springsteen came to the state, and a rowdy Foghat shot that he remembered from the early 1970’s. (50:11)
