We had a great time at the Milford Performance Center’s Drive In Concerts featuring Creamery Station (Friday May 14th) and Last Child – Aerosmith Tribute (Saturday May 15th) at the Connecticut Post Mall Parking Lot!
This was a big week for the Foo Fighters as they have been inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and their second album The Colour and the Shape goes into our “Hall of Fame” as well. Released in 1997,The Colour and the Shape marks the official debut of the Foo Fighters as a band. The self-titled debut album was pretty much all Dave Grohl, who in his own right is an extremely gifted musician, songwriter, and film director. (He directed most of the Foo’s videos). After the success of the first album, Dave recruited Pat Smear on guitar, Nate Mendel on bass and William Goldsmith on drums as Dave took over the front man duties and switched to guitar, marking the official debut of the band’s first lineup. With the singles “Monkey Wrench,” “Everlong” and “My Hero” this album became the biggest-selling album for the band and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Album in 1998. It sold over 2 million copies after its release and was certified double platinum for the single “Everlong” in 2007. At this time, we would like to welcome the Foo Fighters second album The Colour and the Shape into the WPLR Hall of Fame! Thanks for your votes.
Live Nation’s Jimmy Koplik broke down his voting process for the Rock Hall of Fame, and feels like the inductees this year are all extremely worthy. He admitted there is one inductee that he doesn’t quite understand, and a band left out that is more than deserving. (0:00)
Every Friday, Chaz and listen back to the biggest on-air mistakes they’ve made over the last week. A “flubble” is a combination of a flub and mumble, as AJ proves while trying to say the word “linguini.” (14:48)
Boss Keith’s Top 5 was all about the internet’s “garbage studies,” and the real answers he thinks they are hiding. (20:57)
AJ was at the Ice Man Hard Seltzer Launch Party with Jay from Micalizzi’s at Brewport in Bridgeport. Big thanks to Jay, Jeff from Brewport and the Chaz and AJ Tribe for making this such a fun time!
6:13. How many Flubbles did we make this week. Hello?
6:20. In honor of yesterday’s gas station brawl… Call in the place you had or almost had a fight…877-764-2535

7:13. Dumb Ass News. Cow poop is not a cure for covid.
99.1 PLR celebrates 50 years! This week we are celebrating another great year in our history: 1997!
That year PLR welcomed English rockers BUSH to New Haven Coliseum. BUSH hit the road in ’97 to support their second studio album “Razorblade Suitcase,” which featured such singles as Swallowed, Greedy Fly, Bonedriven and Cold Contagious.
Joining BUSH at the Coliseum was special guest Veruca Salt.
This marked the second consecutive year BUSH came to New Haven. They played a show at the Coliseum in 1996 to support their debut album “Sixteen Stone.” They wouldn’t return to Connecticut for another 13 years (Foxwoods in 2010).

Mike Lapitino, the longest running air talent in WPLR’s 50 year history, takes Chaz through his 35 years on air at the station and behind the scenes. From hanging out with Rock Stars (and annoying some), to what struck him about standing next to the Rolling Stones and tons of studio stories in between, Your Ol’ Buddy Lappy doesn’t hold back.
Frito-Lay is expanding production, and moving into the state of Connecticut. Chaz and AJ wanted to know what goes into making a bag of Cheetos, and stumbled upon their recipe page on their website. (0:00)
A viral fight at a gas station in North Carolina split the show. Chaz and AJ believed the woman was completely to blame, while Ashley saw the whole thing differently. (6:58)
Jonathan Carbutti was on with Chaz and AJ to talk about the real estate market, which remains insanely active. (19:30)
In Dumb Ass News, AJ tried to shave his legs with sandpaper after seeing a woman go viral on TikTok. Then the chat room on Twitch fought back after AJ insulted them. (25:24)
