Today we look back at one of the biggest concerts to ever come to Connecticut: Eagles with special guest Heart and Little River Band at Yale Bowl in 1980. Nearly 68,000 people came to The Bowl on a hot summer afternoon and rocked out to the music of the Eagles.

WPLR’s studio at the time was on Chapel Street, which was a short drive to New Haven Coliseum. WPLR and The Coliseum had a long history of presenting some of the biggest rock acts to New Haven. In 1980 WPLR presented RUSH at New Haven Coliseum. Rush came to the Coliseum to support their seventh studio album, “Permanent Waves.” which included the hit “The Spirit of Radio.”

Ashley FINALLY got her duet with AJ. Kinda, anyway. During the company holiday Zoom party, Stephen Carlile chose both of them to join him in singing lessons. Stephen plays Scar in the Broadway version of “The Lion King.” (32:38)
Beau Wise and his two brothers all joined the military. Beau was the only one to come back. Chaz and AJ talked to him about the decision to join, and the unbelievable grief of losing both of his brothers. It’s all in his book, “Three Wise Men.” (49:20)
