Remember Velvet Revolver? The supergroup from the 2000s that featured members of Stone Temple Pilots (Scott Weiland) and Guns N’ Roses (Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum). They didn’t last very long – 6 years to be exact – but they achieved commercial success with hits like Fall To Pieces and Slither. Velvet Revolver only ended up playing only a couple shows in Connecticut and today we look back at their first show here.

About The Tour: Fresh off their 2005 Grammy Award for “Best Hard Rock Performance,” Velvet Revolver hit the road for their headlining North American “Electric Wonderland Show” Tour with special guests Hoobastank. The tour kicked off in Montreal in March 2005 and would play in arenas across the United States and Canada.

Velvet Revolver made its Connecticut debut with a performance at The Arena at Harbor Yard on May 2, 2005. This was the first show on the east coast swing of the tour. Their 16-song setlist in Bridgeport featured most of the songs off their No. 1 debut album “Contraband” plus familiar covers by Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses.

Bob Stefanowski was on to announce with Chaz and AJ, Masks for CT. Next Tuesday, in partnership with Channel 3 WFSB and Live Nation, there will be a drive-through mask giveaway at XFINITY Theater in Hartford. Bob Stefanowski had all the ways you can help donate to bring more masks into Connecticut, as well. (0:00)

Glenn Lungarini had to deliver some disappointing news to high school students, with the decision being made that no spring sport championships will be played. However, that doesn’t mean they have given up on games altogether. (10:36)

WFSB’s Scot Haney was live from his house this morning, to promote the Masks for CT event next week. scot will actually be leaving his house to report live from the event as it happens. (19:51)

Live Nation’s Jimmy Koplik further promoted the Masks for CT event next Tuesday, and which canceled and rescheduled concerts are starting to see refunds. (27:22)

NFL Agent Joe Linta had all the big events from last night’s NFL Draft, which had more than a few technical difficulties. Joe analyzed the picks for the Giants and Jets, and tried to make sense of the Patriots decision to trade out of the first round. (33:56)

Fox 61’s Jimmy Altman called in to nominate a Winner of the Week, the entire team at UConn Health that save the life of a COVID-19 patient that finally went home at 15 days on a ventilator. (45:30)

Teresa Dufour from News 8 was on live from the man cave in her hosue, which has a Mickey Mantle something, a full bar and a urinal. (51:39)

Boss Keith was in the studio for his Top 5 list, which was all about the things he’s going to do when the quarantine is over. (59:10)

Ever go to a concert only to find out the show isn’t happening? That’s exactly what happened on the evening of November 25, 1978, just two days after Thanksgiving. As fans were arriving at New Haven Coliseum and getting into their seats, Bob Weir went on stage and announced Jerry Garcia was unable to perform due to a respiratory illness.

To make good on the cancelled show, The Dead would return to The Coliseum on January 17, 1979. Today we look back at that rescheduled show, presented by 99.1 PLR.

About The Tour: After Jerry’s illness and the postponement of the Coliseum show, The Dead were back on the road within a couple weeks. They would reschedule the remainder of their east coast tour and would return to New Haven on January 17, 1979. The 11,000 fans at the sold out New Haven Coliseum were excited to welcome The Dead back to the Elm City.

About The Tour: Alice Cooper began rehearsals for his upcoming No More Mr. Nice Guy Tour the first week in May in Nashville. The tour officially kicked off in Indiana on May 12, 2011 and featured a new, revamped band lineup. The 2011 lineup included guitarists Steve Hunter, Tommy Henriksen and Damon Johnson, drummer Glen Sobel and bassist Chuck Garric.

The show at The Klein Auditorium in December 2011 was on the third leg of the North American tour. Prior to the start of the tour, Alice promised a lot of hits and he certainly delivered that in Bridgeport. From his classics like Billion Dollar Babies and Schools Out to his ’90s hits Hey Stoopid and Feed My Frankenstein plus all the theatrics, Alice gave his fans exactly what they wanted: a trademark Alice Cooper rock n’ roll show.
